Former BOP Contractor Arrested for Sexual Abuse of an Inmate

On October 4, 2022, a former BOP Contractor previously assigned to the Riverside Halfway House in Miami, Florida, was arrested for one count of sexual abuse of a ward.  Benito Montes De Oca Cruz was charged in the Southern District of Florida.  According to the criminal Information, on or about December 28, 2020, Cruz did knowingly engage in a sexual act with another person who was in official detention and under his custodial, supervisory, and disciplinary authority.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Miami Field Office.
