Former BOP Contract Correctional Officer Sentenced for Bribery

On January 18, 2024, a former GEO Group, Inc., (GEO) Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Flightline Correctional Center, a BOP contract facility located in Big Spring, Texas, was sentenced to 24 months of imprisonment followed by 12 months of supervised release and ordered to pay a fine of $10,000 for one count of bribery.  Sabastien Sanchez-Ortiz was sentenced in the Northern District of Texas.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about March 2021 through on or about May 15, 2021, Sanchez-Ortiz received approximately $30,630.75 from inmates in exchange for bringing contraband cellphones into the institution.  This investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Office.
