Former ATF TFO Sentenced for Abduction, Ethnic Intimidation and Assault

On June 15, 2026, a former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Task Force Officer (TFO) was sentenced to 18 months incarceration for two counts of abduction, 10 months for ethnic intimidation and 120 days for assault. Donald Kopchak was sentenced in the Court of Common Pleas for Medina County, Ohio. In April 2024, Kopchak unlawfully restrained a local bar patron. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Detroit Office, the FBI, and the Hinkley Police Department; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
