On May 12, 2026, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney previously assigned to the Southern District of West Virginia pleaded guilty to five counts of identity theft. Monica Dillon pleaded guilty in the Southern District of West Virginia. According to the factual basis in support of the guilty plea, from approximately January 2021 to January 2023, Dillon used the identifying information of five individuals in furtherance of interstate commerce without lawful authority. At the time of her plea, Dillon was ordered to pay $30,000 in restitution and entered a pre-trial diversion program. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Washington Office.
