On December 1, 2020, the brother-in-law of a U.S. Attorney’s Office Paralegal Specialist assigned to the Western District of Texas pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. Roland Gustamante pleaded guilty in the Western District of Texas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about October 2018 through in or about April 2020, Gustamante was associated with a Drug Trafficking Organization, which supplied a cooperating defendant with approximately 200 kilograms of methamphetamine and 400 kilograms of heroin. The investigation is being conducted jointly by OIG’s Houston Area Office, the DEA, and the FBI.
