BOP Correctional Systems Officer Sentenced for Obstruction of Justice

On March 21, 2023, a BOP Correctional Systems Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico was sentenced to 2 years of probation for one count of destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in a federal investigation.  Eric Lugo was sentenced in the District of Puerto Rico.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about September 23, 2016, Lugo wrote an official memorandum which contained false information about an incident in which another CSO punched a detainee. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Miami Field Office.
