BOP Correctional Systems Officer Pleaded Guilty to Obstruction of Justice

 On November 17, 2022, a Correctional Systems Officer (CSO) assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico pleaded guilty to one count of falsification of a record in a federal investigation.  Eric Lugo pleaded guilty in the District of Puerto Rico.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about September 23, 2016, Lugo wrote an official memorandum which contained false information about an incident in which another CSO punched a detainee.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Miami Field Office.
