BOP Correctional Officer Sentenced for Wire Fraud

On March 21, 2024, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Coleman (FCI Coleman) in Wildwood, Florida, was sentenced to 60 months of probation, a $1,400 special assessment, and $39,570 in restitution for fourteen counts of wire fraud.  Katrina McCoy was sentenced in the Middle District of Florida.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on or about March 27, 2019, through on or about February 23, 2021, McCoy filed 5 false disability insurance claims and received 14 electronic transfers to her bank accounts, totaling $39,570.  McCoy fraudulently used her primary care physician and BOP supervisor’s identities to commit the fraud that affected interstate commerce. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Miami Office.
