On September 14, 2022, a BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Metropolitan Correctional Center New York (MCC New York) pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of justice. Greg McKenzie pleaded guilty in the Southern District of New York. According to the factual statement read in court in support of the guilty plea, on or about November 4, 2021, McKenzie corruptly obstructed, influenced, and impeded the government’s criminal investigation regarding the smuggling of a firearm into the MCC New York by making false statements to federal investigators regarding his purchase, possession, and use of a prepaid cell phone. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York Field Office and the FBI New York Field Office.
