BOP Correctional Officer Charged with Bribery

On September 29, 2025, Karen Torres, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Coleman Medium (FCI Coleman Medium), was arrested following a Grand Jury indictment in the Middle District of Florida. Torres was charged with acceptance of a bribe by a public official. According to the Indictment, Torres received payments for introducing tobacco and narcotic contraband into FCI Coleman Medium and providing the contraband to an inmate who previously was arrested by the OIG in March 2025. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Ocala Locale.
