Son of Former BOP Cook Supervisor/Correctional Officer Arrested and Pleaded Guilty to Aiding and Abetting Use of a Communication Facility to Commit a Felony Offense

On December 14, 2020, the son of a former BOP Cook Supervisor/Correctional Officer assigned to the United States Penitentiary Big Sandy in Inez, Kentucky, was arrested and pleaded guilty following an Information charging him with one count of use of a communication facility to commit money laundering.  Tyler Williams was charged in the Eastern District of Kentucky.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from an unknown date through on or about September 27, 2019, Williams received packages addressed to fictitious names on behalf of his father, Hank Williams, and knew or should have known that the packages contained money for unlawful activity.  Tyler Williams also admitted to receiving cash from Hank Williams following receipt of some packages.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Lexington Domicile Office, the United States Postal Inspections Service, the FBI, and the Georgetown, Kentucky Police Department.
