On August 7, 2025, the former Assistant Director assigned to the Ghent and James River Residential Reentry Center (RRC) in Newport News, Virginia, was sentenced to 20 months in prison and other penalties following his guilty plea to one count of a public official accepting a bribe. Marlon R. Jones, Jr., was sentenced in the Eastern District of Virginia. According to the statement of facts in support of his plea, from April 2021 through September 2022, Jones solicited payment from an inmate at the RRC in exchange for not processing numerous violations of the inmate’s home confinement which could have resulted in the inmate being returned to prison. Jones received $650 via CashApp and an unknown amount in cash, and engaged in a sexual relationship with the inmate. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Washington Office; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG's Cyber Investigations Office.
