On February 8, 2022, a non-DOJ individual was sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment and 24 months of supervised release for one count of providing contraband to a federal inmate. Venise Torres-Ross was sentenced in the Eastern District of Michigan. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about May 2017 through in or about July 2017, Torres-Ross provided contraband, including the controlled substance analogue MMB-FUBINACA and cellular phones to inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution in Milan, Michigan. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Detroit Area Office and the FBI.
