On September 12, 2023, a non-DOJ individual pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Johnderrius Lovett pleaded guilty in the Middle District of Georgia. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about March 2020 through in or about April 2021, Lovett, in connection with other non-DOJ individuals submitted several false Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and Unemployment Insurance Benefit applications containing materially false representations and certifications. Lovett also agreed to forfeit $41,600. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Fraud Detection Office and the FBI, on behalf of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee.
