On August 5, 2025, Rachel Lindley, a former Van Buren County Specialty Court Administrator in Paw Paw, Michigan, was arrested and charged with one felony count of embezzlement of $100,000 or more and one felony count of embezzlement by a public official over $50.00 in Van Buren County, Michigan. According to the factual basis in support of the complaint, from January 1, 2022, to March 20, 2025, Lindley willfully and knowingly embezzled approximately $125,000 in federal grant funds by creating fraudulent invoices and unlawfully utilized the Van Buren County credit card. The investigation is being conducted by the Michigan State Police and the OIG’s Chicago Office; forensic accounting assistance was proved by the OIG's Fraud Detection Office.
