Former Girlfriend of BOP Inmate Sentenced for Offering and Giving Bribe to a Public Official

On June 30, 2022, a non-DOJ individual was sentenced to five months of incarceration followed by three years of supervised release for one count of offering and giving a bribe to a public official.  Tylicia Jones, the former girlfriend of a BOP Inmate, was sentenced in the Eastern District of Virginia.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about June 2019 through on or about August 6, 2020, Jones, along with others, gave a stream of payments to a public official in exchange for the public official smuggling prohibited objects into the Federal Correctional Institute Petersburg.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Washington Field Office and the FBI’s Richmond Office.
