Former Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Case Manager Pleaded Guilty and Sentenced for Forgery and Theft of Property from an Agency Receiving DOJ Grant Funds

On April 18, 2023, a former CASA Case Manager pleaded guilty to one count of forgery and one count of theft of property, and was sentenced to 120 months of supervised probation, fined $1,000, and ordered to pay $36,634.10 in restitution.  Katie Rylee pleaded guilty and was sentenced in Circuit Court in Boone County, Arkansas.  According to the affidavit in support of the arrest warrant, from in or about April 2017 through in or about July 2019, Rylee knowingly misappropriated funds from CASA, an agency receiving DOJ grant funds, for her personal benefit and falsified documents in connection with the scheme.  In total, Rylee misappropriated approximately $43,634.10.  The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office and the Harrison, Arkansas, Police Department.
