On October 30, 2025, Jamal Jackson, a former BOP Education Teacher previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Phoenix (FCI Phoenix) in Arizona, was sentenced in the District of Arizona to nine months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release after previously pleading guilty to one count of receiving a bribe by a public official. According to the factual basis in support of his guilty plea, in or about September 2022, Jackson accepted bribes of at least $5000 via Cash App, as well as a $1,500 cash payment, to introduce contraband into FCI Pheonix, to include cotton paper soaked in a liquid substance that Jackson believed to be drugs. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Tucson Office and the FBI; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
