On November 9, 2022, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Low in Yazoo City, Mississippi, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud. Tarshauna Thomas was charged in the Southern District of Mississippi. According to the plea agreement, Thomas pleaded guilty to count one of the Indictment, which stated that from in or about April 2021 through in or about May 2021, Thomas applied through two separate lenders for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans using false and fraudulent information about a non-existent company, “Shaunas Little Pooches.” Thomas allegedly was approved for both PPP loans; however, she received payment from only one lender, and the payment was subsequently electronically deposited into Thomas’ personal bank account. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Jackson Mississippi Domicile Office.
