On July 25, 2022, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Low in Yazoo City, Mississippi, was arrested following an Indictment charging her with two counts of wire fraud. Tarshauna Thomas was indicted in the Southern District of Mississippi. According to the Indictment, from in or about April 2021 through in or about May 2021, Thomas applied through two separate lenders for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans using false and fraudulent information about a non-existent company, “Shaunas Little Pooches.” Thomas allegedly was approved for both PPP loans; however, she only received payment from one lender, and the payment was subsequently electronically deposited into Thomas’ personal bank account. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Jackson Domicile Office.
