Former BOP Correctional Officer Charged with Sexual Abuse of an Inmate

On December 30, 2020, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Secure Female Facility at the Federal Correctional Complex Hazleton (SFF Hazleton) in West Virginia was charged with one count of sexual abuse of a ward.  Scott Douglas Born was charged in the Northern District of West Virginia.  According to the Information, from on or about September 1, 2018, through on or about January 31, 2019, Born knowingly engaged in a sexual act with an inmate who was a federal prisoner at SFF Hazleton and who was under his custodial, supervisory, and disciplinary authority. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Washington Field Office.
