Former BOP Contract Medical Assistant Pleaded Guilty and Sentenced for Providing Contraband in Prison


On August 18, 2021, a former BOP Medical Assistant assigned to Fort Worth Federal Medical Center (FMC), in Texas pleaded guilty to one count of providing contraband in prison and was sentenced to 1 year of probation.  Aracely Munoz pleaded guilty and was sentenced in the Northern District of Texas.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, in or about September 2020 Munoz provided a prohibited object, namely, a phone used by a user of commercial mobile service in connection with such service to an inmate of the FMC.  The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office and the FBI.
