On May 13, 2021, a BOP inmate previously housed at the Federal Correctional Institution Texarkana (FCI Texarkana) in Texas was sentenced to 70 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for one count of aiding and abetting attempt to obtain contraband in prison. Jason Parmeley, who received a consecutive sentence to the sentence he was already serving, was sentenced in the Eastern District of Texas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, in or about October and November 2018, Parmeley facilitated communication between participants in a criminal venture to bring a prohibited object, Buprenorphine, a controlled substance, into FCI Texarkana, with the intent that the controlled substance be obtained by and distributed to other inmates. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office and the United States Postal Inspections Service.
