On October 10, 2023, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Correctional Center New York (MCC New York) was sentenced to four years of probation, including home confinement for the first six months, for one count of conspiracy to provide and possess prison contraband. Sharon Griffith-McKnight was sentenced in the Southern District of New York. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, in or about 2020, Griffith-McKnight conspired to provide inmates with contraband including cell phones and cigarettes. As part of the plea agreement, Griffith McKnight also stipulated that from in or about February 2020 through in or about January 2021, Griffith-McKnight engaged in a sexual relationship with an inmate of the MCC New York who was under Griffith-McKnight’s custodial care. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s New York Office and the FBI.
