BOP Correctional Officer Pleaded Guilty to Conspiracy to Provide Contraband to Inmates

On June 13, 2023, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Correctional Center New York (MCC New York) pleaded guilty to one count of participating in a conspiracy to provide and possess prison contraband.  Sharon Griffith-McKnight pleaded guilty in the Southern District of New York.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, in or about 2020, Griffith-McKnight willfully provided an inmate with contraband including cell phones and cigarettes.  As part of the plea agreement, Griffith McKnight also stipulated that from in or about February 2020 through in or about January 2021, she engaged in a sexual relationship with an inmate of the MCC New York who was under Griffith-McKnight’s custodial care.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York Field Office and the FBI.
