On July 11, 2023, a BOP Correctional Officer currently assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Coleman (FCI Coleman) in Wildwood, Florida, was indicted by a federal grand jury on 14 counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. Katrina McCoy was indicted in the Middle District of Florida. According to the Indictment, from on or about March 27, 2019, through on or about February 23, 2021, McCoy knowingly devised and intended to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud and to obtain money by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses. Specifically, McCoy made false representations on disability claims, using fictitious documentation and the names and documentation of two other people, to cause 14 wire transfers to be made to her banking account. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chattanooga Domicile Office.
