On November 14, 2024, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), Brooklyn, New York, was indicted on one count of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence and one count of deprivation of rights under color of law. Leon Wilson was indicted in the Eastern District of New York. According to the Indictment, on or about September 4, 2023, Wilson willfully deprived another individual of the right, secured by the Constitution and laws of the United States, to be free from an unreasonable seizure, by shooting the individual when there was no lawful justification to use deadly force. The offense involved the use of a dangerous weapon and resulted in bodily injury. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York Office and the FBI.
