On October 28, 2025, Leon Wilson, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center Brooklyn (MDC Brooklyn), was found guilty of one count of deprivation of rights under color of law and one count of using a firearm in relation to a crime of violence after a jury trial in the Eastern District of New York. According to the evidence presented at trial, Wilson, while acting under the color of law as a BOP Correctional Officer, pursued a vehicle that had trespassed on MDC Brooklyn property for more than a mile beyond BOP property before brandishing a firearm and discharging six rounds into the rear of the pursued vehicle, striking a passenger seated in the back seat without provocation and with no lawful justification to use deadly force, and failed to report the incident. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York City Office.
