Good O' Boy Roundup Report - March, 1996

a) Prostitution

Rumors that prostitutes were present at the Roundup began as early as 1986. A Justice Department employee who attended that year thought there "may have been a few prostitutes attempting to work the crowd." He had no specific information that these women were in fact prostitutes, as opposed to women merely dressed provocatively. He was not solicited and did not know anyone who had been. He also told us that he believed these women were not brought in by the Roundup organizers but were just women from the local community.

We found numerous other witnesses who believed that prostitutes were probably attempting to ply their trade among the attendees. We heard accounts of women who appeared to be prostitutes from Chattanooga allegedly visiting the campsite. Despite the large number of witnesses who thought prostitutes were present, no one admitted to having been solicited.
