Correctional Officer Pleads Guilty to Providing Contraband to Inmates

Clarksburg, W.V. — September 24, 2008 — A 30 year old Uniontown, Pennsylvania, resident entered a plea of guilty on September 19, 2008, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that CHRISTOPHER HAWK, a former correctional officer at the United States Penitentiary in Hazelton, West Virginia, entered a plea of guilty to one count of providing a prohibited object (DVDs) to inmates at USP Hazelton. HAWK, who is free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 6 months imprisonment and a fine of $5,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin. The case was investigated by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Inspector General.
