TIMEFRAMES FOR INVENTORY DATA

As noted on page 6, the time periods covered by the data presented in the report vary from component to component. These inconsistencies occurred because the INS audit was completed before our simultaneous special audits at the BOP, DEA, FBI, and USMS began. Therefore, our data for the INS is older than that of the other components. In addition, while we attempted to obtain data for the same time periods for the other audits, the components were not always able to provide information for specific cutoff dates. The table below provides the time periods covered by the data used throughout the report.
