Non-DOJ Individual Pleaded Guilty to Theft of Property of the United States

On December 5, 2025, Sabrina Thipdavone Rhodes, an Intelligence Analyst with the Nevada High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) working with the DEA’s Las Vegas District Office, pleaded guilty in the Central District of California to one count of theft of property of the United States. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about November 22, 2023, Rhodes stole and converted to cash 243,199.0421 of the virtual currency Ripple (“XRP”) that had been seized by the DEA and stored in a virtual currency wallet controlled by the government; the value of the XRP stolen from the DEA Wallet would have been approximately $689,688 on the date of the execution of the plea agreement. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations and Los Angeles Offices.
