Non-DOJ Individual Pleaded Guilty to False Impersonation of a Federal Officer

On October 15, 2025, Jason Beau Dark, a non-DOJ individual, pleaded guilty in the Western District of Louisiana to one count of false impersonation of a federal officer, that is, a Special Agent of the DEA. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, on or about July 7, 2025, Dark was involved in an incident with another motorist and displayed a counterfeit DEA special agent badge in an attempt to intimidate the victim. Both parties drove to the Ruston Police Department after the encounter, and when officers confronted Dark, he identified himself as a Special Agent with the DEA, displayed a counterfeit DEA badge to them, and also presented counterfeit DEA credentials in an attempt to influence the investigation; in doing so, Dark assumed or pretended to be an officer or employee acting under the authority of the United States or any department, agency or officer of the United States. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Houston Office and the Ruston Police Department.
