Non-DOJ Civilian Arrested for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property

On February 10, 2026, a non-DOJ individual was arrested following an indictment charging him with three counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree. Constantine Anyanwu was indicted in the County of Queens, New York. According to the Indictment, from on or about and between June 12, 2020, and June 26, 2020, Anyanwu knowingly possessed stolen property the aggregate value of which exceeded $3,000. The indictment stemmed from a federal investigation of a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal, who previously pleaded guilty to laundering money. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Fraud Detection Office, with assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the New York Police Department.
