Former Van Buren County Specialty Court Administrator Sentenced for Embezzlement

On May 18, 2026, a former Van Buren County Specialty Court Administrator, was sentenced to 40 to 240 months of imprisonment and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $145,860 for one count of embezzlement. Rachel Lindley was sentenced in the Van Buren County District Court. According to the factual basis in support of the complaint, between 2022 and 2025, Lindley embezzled funds from the Specialty Court, which is a recipient of grant funds from the DOJ Office of Justice Programs. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Midwest Region and the Michigan State Police; forensic accounting assistance was provided by the OIG's Fraud Detection Office.
