On June 28, 2021, a former Correctional Officer at the Sandoval County Detention Center (SCDC), a contract facility for federal prisoners, pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to provide contraband to an inmate and one count of drug conspiracy. Yuri Cobb pleaded guilty in the District of New Mexico. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from a date unknown, but not later than November 2, 2017, through or about November 5, 2017, Cobb conspired with others and attempted to provide buprenorphine, a narcotic drug, to an inmate of the SCDC. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s El Paso Area Office.
