Former NEOCC Correctional Officer Pleaded Guilty to Bribery of a Public Official and Introduction of Contraband

On December 2, 2020, a former USMS Contract Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center (NEOCC) in Youngstown, Ohio, pleaded guilty to one count of bribery of a public official and two counts of providing contraband to an inmate.  Skyler Herring pleaded guilty in the Northern District of Ohio.  According to the plea, Herring pleaded guilty to a three-count Indictment, which stated that from on or about November 26, 2018, through on or about August 23, 2019, Herring accepted monetary bribes in exchange for introducing cell phones and tobacco into the NEOCC.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Field Office and the FBI.
