Former Financial Director of a Crime Victim Shelter Pleaded Guilty to Theft from a Nonprofit Corporation and Placed on Community Supervision Pursuant to an Order of Deferred Adjudication

On October 13, 2021, the former Financial Director of Safe Place, Incorporated (Inc.), a non-profit organization that aids victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and receives grant funds from the DOJ Office for Victims of Crime, pleaded guilty to theft from a non-profit organization and was placed on community supervision for 2 years and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service pursuant to an order of deferred adjudication.  Ginger Parks was sentenced in the 69th Judicial District Court of Moore County, Texas. According to the order of deferred adjudication, Parks pleaded guilty to a one-count Indictment, which stated that on or about December 1, 2016, Parks unlawfully appropriated, by acquiring or otherwise exercising control over, U.S. Currency in the amount of $2,500 or more but less than $30,000, from Safe Place, a non-profit corporation, by deception and with intent to deprive the owner of the property.  The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Dallas Field Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety – Texas Rangers Company “C”.
