Former FCI-Miami Correctional Officer Involved in Bribery Scheme Sentenced to 70 Months’ Imprisonment


On November 19, 2020, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Miami (FCI Miami) in Miami, Florida, was sentenced to 70 months of imprisonment for one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and commit bribery, six counts of bribery of a public official, one count of conspiracy to provide or possess contraband in prison, and six counts of possession or provision of contraband in prison.  Victor DeJesus was sentenced in the Southern District of Florida.  According to the plea agreement, DeJesus pleaded guilty to a fourteen-count Indictment, which stated that from in or about December 2018, through in or about  September 2019, DeJesus, in coordination with two BOP inmates, introduced cellular telephones,  subscriber identification module (SIM) cards, cigarettes, and cellular telephone accessories into the FCI Miami facility in exchange for U.S. currency. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Miami Field Office, the FBI, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
