On April 9, 2026, a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent previously assigned to the Baton Rouge Resident Agency Office, in Louisiana, was sentenced to eight years’ incarceration within the Texas Department of Corrections, required to register as a sex offender and ordered to pay a child abuse prevention fine of $100 following his guilty plea for one count of indecency with a child. David Lee Harris was sentenced in Smith County District Court, Tyler, Texas. According to the Indictment in July 2018, Harris exposed his genitals to a child younger than 17 years of age, with intent to arouse or gratify his sexual desire. Harris was previously sentenced on September 26, 2024, to ten years’ incarceration in Louisiana for third-degree rape. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Houston Office, Texas Rangers, and the Louisiana State Police.
