Former FBI Section Chief Arrested and Charged with Theft of Government Property

On August 27, 2021, a former FBI Senior Executive Service Section Chief previously assigned to the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia was arrested following a Criminal Complaint charging him with theft of government property.  John Joseph Behun was charged in the District of Maryland.  According to the Complaint, from on or about January 5, 2015, through on or about November 21, 2018, Behun falsely certified in the FBI’s time and attendance system that he had worked approximately 876 hours that he had not worked.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Washington Field Office, with assistance by OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office and the OIG’s Fraud Detection Office.
