Former Boston Police Officer Pleaded Guilty to Conspiracy and Embezzlement from a Program Receiving Federal Funds, including DOJ Funds

On October 4, 2021, a former Boston police officer pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit embezzlement concerning programs receiving federal funds and one count of embezzlement from a program receiving federal funds.  Thomas Nee pleaded guilty in the District of Massachusetts.  According to the plea agreement, Nee pleaded guilty to Count 1 and Count 2 of the Information, which stated that from in or about January 2015 through in or about February 2019, Nee and his co-conspirators submitted false and fraudulent overtime slips for overtime hours that they did not work for the Boston Police Department, which received annual grants from both the United States Department of Transportation and the DOJ.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New Jersey Area Office.
