On August 11, 2025, a former BOP Education Teacher previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Phoenix (FCI Phoenix) in Arizona, pleaded guilty to one count of receiving a bribe by a public official. Jamal K. Jackson pleaded guilty in the District of Arizona. According to the factual basis in support of his guilty plea, in or about September 2022, Jackson corruptly accepted bribes of at least $5,000 via Cash App, as well as a $1,500 cash payment to introduce contraband into FCI Phoenix, to include cotton paper soaked in a liquid substance that Jackson believed to be drugs. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Tucson Office and the FBI; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
