Former BOP Correctional Officer Arrested and Pleaded Guilty to Falsification of Records and Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law

A former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky (FMC Lexington), was arrested and pleaded guilty following an information charging him with one count of falsification of records and one count of deprivation of rights under color of law. Ryan Carnahan pleaded guilty in the Eastern District of Kentucky. According to the factual basis in support of the guilty plea, on or about June 28, 2025, Carnahan physically assaulted an inmate and then falsified a report regarding the incident. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the OIG’s Midwest Region and the FBI.
