On April 10, 2026, a BOP Supervisory Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Yazoo City in Mississippi was arrested based on an indictment by a federal grand jury in the Southern District of Mississippi charging one count of Deprivation of Rights under of Color of Law, Title 18 U.S.C. § 242, and a second count charging Falsification of Records in Federal Investigation Title 18 U.S.C. §1519. According to the Indictment, Alvin Meredith, while acting under color of law as a correctional officer with FCC Yazoo City, assaulted an inmate by grabbing him and slamming him to the concrete floor, resulting in bodily injury to the inmate. Additionally, Meredith did knowingly falsify and make a false entry in a record and cover up a tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, and influence the investigation and proper administration of a matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States. This investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Jackson Locale.
