On September 28, 2020, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) New York was arrested following an Indictment charging him with one count of bribery and one count of blackmail of a female prison visitor. Robert Adams was charged in the Southern District of New York. According to the Indictment, on or about July 5, 2019, Adams blackmailed and corruptly demanded that a female visitor, whom he had caught smuggling contraband into MCC New York, engage in sexual acts with him or else be prosecuted and denied future entry into the MCC. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s New York Field Office and the FBI.
