Former Contracted Case Manager Sentenced for Making False Statements

On April 9, 2024, a former BOP contracted Case Manager who was employed at the North Lake Correctional Facility (NLCF) in Baldwin, Michigan, was sentenced to 24 months of imprisonment, 24 months of supervised release, a $500 fine, and a $100 special assessment for making materially false statements. Donna Schucker was sentenced in the Western District of Michigan. NLCF was a private custodial facility contracted by BOP and operated by The GEO Group, Inc. that closed in October 2022. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about June 2022 through in or about July 2022, Donna Schucker engaged in sexual acts on multiple occasions with an inmate inside NLCF and later lied about it when asked by OIG agents. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Detroit Office with assistance from the Cyber Investigations Office.
