On April 11, 2024, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Oakdale (FCI Oakdale) in Louisiana, was sentenced to two years of incarceration, one-year of supervised released, a $10,000 fine, and a $100 assessment for bribery of a public official. Devin Darbonne was sentenced in the Western District of Louisiana. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about August 2021 through in or about October 2021, Darbonne received an amount not exceeding $30,000 from an inmate at FCI Oakdale, in exchange for smuggling contraband, including cellular phones, vape pens, and cigarettes, into the facility. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Houston Office with assistance of the Cyber Investigations Office.
