Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz today reported to Congress and publicly released the results of a 120-day review of the “creation and content of the FBI Richmond Field Office’s internal intelligence product addressing a purported link between Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists and ‘Radical Traditionalist Catholic’ ideology.”
The Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024, which was signed into law on December 22, 2023, directed the DOJ Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to submit a report on this topic to Congress no later than 120 days after the law’s enactment. The OIG reported the results of our 120-day review in a letter sent today to the Senate Committees on the Judiciary, Homeland Security and Government Affairs, and Appropriations, the House Committees on the Judiciary, Oversight and Accountability, Appropriations, and the Senate Select Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
